Tuition and Policies
Lessons are in my home and are 30 minutes in length. Siblings can be scheduled together and I take more of a group lesson approach for the hour. This can be fun, if the students maintain cooperation and discipline. I bill monthly according to the number of lessons given that month.
Invoices are sent home and/or emailed at the last lesson of the month with payment due on the first lesson of the following month. Any materials given to the student will be added to that month's invoice for reimbursement. For current tuition rates, call me at 317-219-8803 or email me at [email protected].
I request notification for absences, but understand that illness and other family issues happen. I simply ask for a courtesy phone call or email. Make up lessons may be available if an opening in the teaching schedule allows.
Equipment and Parent involvement
You will need to provide a piano or weighted key electric keyboard at home. The piano needs to be in a well lit area and in a place that is comfortable for the student. If you own an acoustic piano, it needs to be in tune and maintained at least once a year. If you currently own an electric keyboard, I encourage you to invest in an acoustic piano by the start of the students third year of instruction.
Parent involvement is critical for student success. Most young people don't have the self-discipline for daily "homework." It is imperative to establish a practicing routine. At first, this could be as little as 5-10 minutes daily. Your interest in what the student is learning will also help to encourage practicing at home.
